Dan Wattis – MEng Student
Dan is in their final year studying for an Integrated Masters in Electronics Engineering at Durham University, looking to graduate in summer 2026. Their capstone project, supervised by Roy, is entitled Enhancing Carbon-Based Conductive Inks for Sustainable Microwave Components, where they will be using a direct ink writing system to try study the conductivity of inks which are primarily made from Carbon. In this research, they will be conducting tests on these Carbon based inks, comparing their conductivity to metal based inks, with an aim of iterating on their design to try and improve their conductivity up to a similar standard as Silver and Copper. Outside of Engineering, Dan is a keen photographer as well as enjoying playing Bass Trombone in a variety of contexts including Orchestras, Jazz Band and Musical Theatre settings.
