Nan Zhang – MSc Student
Nan is currently pursuing her MSc degree in Electronic Engineering at Durham University. Since January 2025, she has been working on her final year project supervised by Roy, focusing on electro-optical characterisation of inkjet-printed mesh-based transparent conductive films. Her current research particularly examines variants of triangular mesh geometries, investigating how this mesh configuration affects the trade-off between electrical conductivity and optical transparency.
She completed her undergraduate studies in Mechanical and Electronic Engineering at Qiqihar University. During her undergraduate studies, Nan gained diverse engineering experience through multiple projects and internships. She participated in the University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition with a food delivery robot project during her sophomore year. In summer 2022, she interned as a laboratory assistant at the Civil Aviation University of China, conducting research on airborne circuit hardware design. She also completed an internship at a mechanical trading company in Tianjin, where she was responsible for testing and maintaining mechanical products. For her undergraduate thesis, she successfully designed and developed a handling robotic arm and its control circuit.
