Zhihang Guo – MSc Student

Zhihang is currently pursuing her MSc degree in Electronic Engineering at Durham University. Since January 2025, he has been working on his final year project supervised by Roy, focusing on surface plasmon polariton (SPP)-based transparent metamaterial lines for future IoT applications. His research particularly investigates the feasibility of supporting SPP-like wave behaviour on ITO-coated glass surfaces in the 2.4–2.5 GHz ISM band, examining how structural contour variations affect wave propagation characteristics.

He obtained his undergraduate degree from Nanjing University of Science and Technology, majoring in Electronic Information Engineering with a specialization in radar technology. His core coursework included radar signal processing, communication principles, and digital signal processing. During his undergraduate studies, Zhihang has developed strong technical expertise in real-time signal processing and radar-based range and velocity measurement systems. He has hands-on experience in waveform generation and optimization using FPGA, and is proficient in MATLAB for signal processing applications. His recent work has explored MATLAB-based simulations analyzing LoRa communication feasibility and the construction and optimization of AI models, bridging embedded systems with artificial intelligence technology.
